COVID Reporting Protocol

If your student has been in close contact with a person who has COVID, is waiting on a test result, or has a confirmed positive COVID result, please report this via email to your student’s teachers, Dr. Knight (taneka_knight) and Ms. Howard (donna_howard). Please be prepared to share test information with Dr. Knight as she will be completing reports for DCSD and DeKalb DPH.

Protocols for Doctor’s Appointments

Students who are attending tele-doc appointments or any style of virtual visit, including, but not limited to: general practitioner appointments, specialist appointments, and mental health counseling must be checked out of school by a parent or guardian to do so.

Also, please keep in mind that we do not have enough space to accommodate students participating in their virtual appointments on campus.

Attendance to class can be excused with a doctor’s note, but students will be responsible for making up work in a timely manner.

Attendance

Please arrive to school each day on time. School begins at 8:10 am and students must be in their class and ready to learn at this time.

Students must also be present and on time to each class, including advisory period.

Students who display habitual tardiness, will receive disciplinary action, including detention and potential removal from the magnet program.

Student Drop-off begins: 7:30 am and students must be picked up by 3:45 pm.

note: Tardy detention is from 7:30-8:00

Dress Code

Keep in mind that DCSD dress code will be enforced during the school day and on school grounds. Some of these dress requirements include, but are not limited to:

– no crop tops/short shirts or exposed midriffs

– no sagging pants or pants worn below the waist

– shorts/skirts/dresses must be longer than extended fingertips

– pants/bottoms must not have holes, rips, or tears above the knee

– open-toed shoes must have a rear strap that is worn at all times. No flip-flops or slides

Parents, thank you in advance for helping our students adhere to dress requirements. Students who cannot adhere to dress code requirements will be asked to call home and change and may face disciplinary action.

Food Deliveries

In order to ensure the safety of our students, please be advised food deliveries from outside vendors (Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc.) are not permitted during school hours for students. We appreciate your partnership in this matter.
